Ok guys... Are you going to don the electrics and go for a ride? Even if it is just around the block? Anyone? It's only 29 degrees today, but it will get close to 40 by afternoon. Here is a link to our Spot Tracker for anyone interested in where we ride today. The desired destination is a Moe's Seafood on the Oregon coast.

Looked like a nice ride. Down to Albany, back up 99W to McMinville for lunch (pizza? ice cream?), then back across the river and home.

Wish I coulda joined you. :)

Yeah, wish you coulda joined us too, but damn it was cold! What really happened today, enjoy!

Well... We did go on a ride today, but it wasn't to Florence. The conversation(s) went something like this:

Pauline: Do we need buy gas?

Ernie: Yeah, but not here, we got enough to get to Albany.

Pauline: Remember the last time you said that?

Ernie: (no response, but was looking at the miles to empty gauge nerviously)

Motorcycle: purrrrr, pffffft, zzzzzzzzzzz 3/4 of a mile from the gas station.

Pauline: It's really cold! My fingers a numb.

Ernie: Let's walk to the gas station! We'll get you to a warm place while I get the bike.

Two guys stop and give us a ride to the station.

To late to make the RTE in Florence - Alternate plan is put in place (Lunch at McMenimens Hotel Oregon in McMinnville ;-)

Pauline: Take me home the long way, ok?

Ernie: It's really cold!

It's a full circle thing...

Only 198 miles today, but the ride was worth it!

Florence RTE: My only DNF of this year...

BTW: Pauline doesn't think I'll fess up to this; psst, don't tell her I told ya...

Bummer on the gas starvation there Ernie! I guess that is why I am so paranoid about not letting her run out. Hell, I have enough trouble with bad gas! Last thing I want to do is cause it to quit myself! At least you guys did get in your New Year's Day ride though. As did Art & I, albeit a short one. Still felt great to be out on the Bike, even in the lower 30's, cause we had some great blue sky this afternoon.

We did run into some ice on the way home over Bald Peak though! Luckily there was a Toyota or Honda in front of us who found themselves spinning tires on the ice, so we had a good warning prior to hitting it ourselves. Good thing, since it was going uphill at a rather steep angle!

Overall it was a great day to ride!

It was a nice ride. I had just gotten the GS out of Portland MC from having brake recall work completed. They did a great job. Fixed the recall did 2 other warranty items and I had them flush the rest of the brake system. They found 2 screws missing (probably from dirt roads) and the final damage was $27.

I called John when I got home and off we went. He kept saying stuff about being nice and toasty. Must have had something to do with heated gear. My hands go a bit cold even with heated grips but not enough to really complain about. The rest was really good.

It was great to have clear sky's and dry roads.....
