I just picked up a low miles 2000 K12LT. I want to add a power outlet in a convenient place on the upper fairing somewhere (similar to my K1100LT). I also want to add a hardwired GPS plug and a USB port(s). Anybody have suggestions? Thanks, Robert.

Hi Robert, glad you found us!

I use a Co-Pilot shelf from BMW Products. It is a VERY customizable unit, very popular, and very stable. Mounts up on the shroud over the instrument panel (and doubles as a visor for the instruments in the process!).

I have my marine grade 12v socket , Zumo 550 GPS, and Valentine One (mounted in a Radar Box from Legal Speeding ) all mounted on it. Right in my line of sight and clear of any obstructions.

I have used this setup on multiple LTs over years and highly recommend it.

Thanks, Tony. Would you happen to have a pic of the power outlet and mounting? Did you wire the outlet direct to the battery? I have been told that I can pick up switched power off of the map light for hard wiring the GPS.

I use a fuse box (this one , which is under $30 on Amazon), connected to the battery via a power relay. Relay is triggered on by the rider seat power wire, which powers up when the ignition is on. This puts all of my fuses in one convenient place, and stops me from leaving any of my farkles powered on by mistake. I learned a long time ago that inline fuses scattered here and there, and a gazillion terminals attached to the battery lugs, can be a huge P.I.T.A.

There are other fuse boxes that one can use, but this one seems to have more going for it than the others.
