Hi. My husband (he drives, I ride) and I own a 2009 K1200LT that we bought in February 2010. We have almost 20000 miles on it and will be putting on our third set of tires. We travel mostly around New York and Pennsylvannia states. I thought I would introduce ourselves. The bike is our retirement plan, as we plan to travel around the country on it once we retire. We are looking for mechanics and dealers around the country that can be trusted. We are delighted to have found this community. :bmw:

May I be the first to welcome you both to the asylum............good bunch here and plenty of good information......do a little navigating around and check out the venders and sponsers......chances are some one will join in, directly and guide you in the right direction for information on the most reputable shops and dealers around the country.........a lot of us do our own wrenching and that just becomes part of the mystic of the lore of the hobby.

Welcome aboard...I too do all my own wrenching. If you have specific questions about dealers or mechanics you can bring them here for the feedback....most likely someone on this forum would know them or have done business with them.

You might want to check out the Hall of Wisdom under the 'Technical' banner at the top. Great information as you become familiar with your new ride.

Welcome!!! This site is awesome. I don't do any wrenching myself. I have to go clear down to Grand Rapids to have any service done. That dealership has been great to me.

As far as this site goes, it has been very very helpful to me. Lots of info here and lots of very helpful people as well.

I sure get way more than I give on this site!

I've even had people call me at home to help with final drive issues.

Great retirement plan. With a top-notch digital camera, a few credit cards, a smart phone (or a netbook computer with Wi-Fi) and the BMW MOA Anonymous booklet, you're gonna have way much fun and a memorable time. Folks here on the forums stand ready to help or advise if needed, and we'll gladly share your experiences when you let us. Need dealership help, let us know the area of the country you're in when needed, and someone with local knowledge of service will answer. Have safe and enjoyable riding.

Welcome! I know that Country Rode Motorworks in Fairport is fairly near you. I haven't tried them myself yet but I've had two people comment that they are very happy with them. Hope you got a chance to hit the Grape Fest in Naples this weekend! My wife and I went down (but on my Honda VTX1800 because my K1200LT is in bits as I prep it for a 2000 mile trip in 2 weeks).

I'm fairly new to the board myself but people have been super helpful so I am already very grateful to the individuals on here.

We bought our LT at Country Rodes. We have been fairly happy with them. We didn't go to the festival in Naples, the hubby is from Naples and we stay as far away from there on festival weekend as we can. We didn't go to Watkins Glen for the BMW weekend either. We were riding down by St. Mary's in Pennsylvannia.
