This afternoon, I welcomed my new ’08 LT – ridden to my place by Frank from Chicago BMW (I’m still recovering from double hernia surgery and not quite ready yet to ride . . . but soon!)

For many weeks now, I have read and re-read terrific, informative threads on this forum – and want all of you to know how much I appreciate the time and energy you offer to new folks like myself, as well as to each other. I have learned a lot and will continue to do so.

While my RT has been a wonderful ride, I’d like to do some touring with my wife and the LT offers us more for that purpose. I’m not sure I would have made the move without the information, views, opinions, perspectives, experience, humor and encouragement I’ve seen here.

So thanks . . . What a terrific riding community!!

And when you feel a sneeze coming you can only think "This is going to hurrrrrrrrt!!!

Take your time with your recovery. Don't try riding too soon and have a recurrence. ( I'v been through the same crap 4 times. Think I should learn by now?)

When the time comes to ride, have many safe and enjoyable miles on that new 08.

Now, where is them pictures?

Many thanks for your good wishes, everyone. And I appreciate the sound advice to take my time returning to riding after this recent surgery. Following sound advice – taking my time in this case – is not so easy for me, but I’m trying!

Hope to see you at the dealer, Gglove. Ten minutes for me – a bit longer for you, but I know we’ll hook up.

Roadhouse is an unusual name . . . lots of nicknames!

For color, I chose Black. I’ve ridden a road bike (bicycle, that is) for years, and the LT matches my black Cannondale.

Photos to come . . .

Congratulations John! Best of luck with your new bike. Given your recent surgery...your'e reeeeeeeally going to like the electrically operated center stand.

Best regards, Jim

The "wave"

Congrats on your new bike!

I envy you :)

I'll be sure to wave if I pass you on the street :)
That's the BMWLT.com wave, right? It's been established as the unique identifier of BMWLT.com members on the road. Can't say I've ever used it myself, but very unique rider to rider wave. :rotf:
Have fun on the new scoot,
Jer

Thanks to all of you for your great words of encouragement and congratulations! There is a lot to learn about the bike, and I know I'll have questions. This forum is such a resource so I have no hesitancy in bringing my questions here.

Thanks, too, for your words of caution on not riding too soon after my double hernia surgery. Am taking my time and meanwhile learning as much as I can from the threads here and from (as they say in the Basic Riders Course) "MOM." Hey, I'm already liking that no strain center stand and I haven't even used it yet!!

Ride safe!

John
