Pulled off left upper side cover and discovered two very small wires, one brown, one brown/green trace, with separate rectangular-section opaque white plastic female connectors on the ends, snaking out from in front of the highest point of the silver-colored remaining Tupperware -- apparently from the area above about the middle of the engine. Not plugged into anything. All electrical features of the bike were working except for the typical radio amp failure that takes out the speakers.

Anybody know what these are for? Wires with trace look stock; not so sure about the connectors.

Those would be wires for the intercomm PTT switch which was an option for a bike to bike radio.

Thankee . . . but to the best of my knowledge the intercom was working the last time I tried to use it (over a year ago). Maybe the pulled loose when I took the side cover off.
