I purchased my newest '09 LT with 3,500 miles on her two weeks ago and learned after getting it that the bike was lowered 4 inches and I hated it.

I got the parts in from http://www.engelandmoto.com/ while I was away last week and took them to the dealer to install.

Front and rear factory used shocks, side and center stand. delivered for $280.

I had the dealer install them along with a brake flush, clutch flush and other annual items (I do the oil, tranny and final drive myself). All in I was at $700 in labor and parts.

I know that aftermarket warranties are a debatable subject but I got the RPM one warranty, 3 years and unlimited ZERO deductible for $1,760.

I rode her home last night from the dealer and was as happy as I ever was on my other LT.

I now feel like I have a "brand new LT" with three years of unlimited riding peace of mind and am ready to roll.

Glad to be back..

That is a great success story, Paul. It is pretty amazing that the original owner had modified a great bike so much that it wouldn't do the job that it was designed to do. I'm sure his intentions were good but clearly BMW had a better idea than he did. Glad you got it back to where it should be.

Thanks for the link to http://www.engelandmoto.com/. Yet another great source for parts!

By the way, the bike was 4" down? I would not think that could even be possible. How did it feel? Like a kid's tricycle?
I am 5'6", 30in inseam and comfortable on standard height LT - the previous owner must have been really short.

the PO was the same height, build and leg length as me.

Oh did I mention that he also had a $30K HD in the Garage with 5 times the miles on it?

Maybe that gives us all a clue.

Oh and it rode like a Harley, not that I have ever been on one, but I would assume that is how they ride.

In the next few weeks, I am going to put the shocks, center stand and side stand on ebayl as a custom lowering kit for an LT.

I am sure someone will get it for great price, since the PO paid $2K for the kit plus install

Paul, I think it was a smart move getting the extended warranty. I am glad to see you back. Look us up if you come down to southwest FL.

Great news, Paul!

And although some will debate the value of an extended warranty (as you pointed out), mine is about up and I am going to purchase another. Mine saved me many times over what it cost!
