Well, I got my ’02 K1200LTE or “C”, not sure which model I have, but I really love how it rides. I also have a ’07 HD Ultra that I bought new 3 years ago. Most of my riding has been pleasure trips on the local canyons and coast, and the HD has been fun. It’s hard to beat the “cool” factor of the HD, but now that I have ridden the LT, it makes me want to get rid of the HD. Don’t get me wrong, I really love the Harley, but it does not ride or feel anything like the BMW, as all of you know.

After my first “long” distance tour (only 1k miles in 3 days), several months ago where a good friend and I went up highway 1 about 75 miles past San Fran, and through Napa, and back to LA, is when I realized that the HD is not the ultimate tour bike. I decided to purchase a used K1200 as a second bike for long tours and …….? Prior to my Harley I had an ‘04 RT1150, and enjoyed the smoothness, but got bored of it after a few years. I craved another HD after having to sell my old ’93 Fat Boy in’98, but wanted something smoother and something that my wife would enjoy, so I choose the Ultra, a fine bike and fairly smooth, for a Harley and we have really enjoyed it.

So, now for my dilemma, I really like the BMW, but the ’02 intercom / stereo does not seems as up to date as some of the newer models. I am now considering selling both bikes and buying a newer LT. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Sounds to me like you already know what you want,
you just want one of us to"talk you into it"

If you can afford it and the wife says OK,
what's holding you back? :)

Not that I can talk, I finally sold my HD when I opened the saddlebag to replace the registration and license plate sticker and found the two previous ones in there.
You might not want to wait that long but I predict that you'll be riding the HD less and the LT more.

Well, it's done, both my '02 LT & and my '07 HD are gone! I am now the proud owner of a very well maintained '06 LT, got with 9,600 miles on the clock and loaded with a bunch of goodies. I got it last Tuesday and I have already put 600 miles on it. I'll never look back, I'm so happy!! :)

Nothing wrong with a new bike if you want one but if your main complaint is the comm system there are cheaper alternatives. Many of us gave up on the early comm systems and replaced it with one of the reasonably priced aftermarket units.

No, it had more to do with features, power, and color......... Everything else is a bonus!
