This poll is not comprehensive. I probably left out a couple of popular insurance companies. It might be helpful to see the distribution when you come up for renewal. This is one of two polls. Please vote in both!

I'll vote when I acquire the rest of the quotes

Thus far I've only acquired two quotes, State Farm (current carrier) and Geico. Geico was 1/2 the premium! I'll vote when I complete my homework.

I just renewed the policy on my 2003 LT. I have had insurance with Dairyland for the past 3 years and have seen the premiums decrease from $458-> $319. I investigated State Farm, Geico, and Progressive last year and all were more expensive. Most insurers give hefty discounts for longer term customers. YMMV

A few quote comparisons

Geico and State Farm quoted these coverages, other companies had to increase or decrease some limits.
Liability 250,000/500,000 BI; 100,000 Property Damage
100 Deductible Comp
500 Deductible Coll
250,000/500,000 BI Uninsured Motorist with 25,000 Property Damage

1. Geico (I switched from State Farm): $385/year (10% discount with ERC from MSF, which I'll take in the next six weeks)

2. Markle American: $584/Year

3. State Farm: $788.94/Year (6 month * 2)

4. Progressive: $822/Year

The motorcycle and year makes a big difference. Geico quoted me $895/year for a 2007 R1200 GS Adventure with $3000 of added accessories.

John, my NM insurance with State Farm is WAY less, and I have high liability limits and pretty low deducts. Wonder what the difference is... By the way, you ever ride down to the tropical portions of the state?

I have 4 bikes with Progressive total for the year is $681. full coverage $250 deductible. The only thing I don't have is the uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury, I am going to add this on the LT and 950 soon.
05' LT-$299.
04' KTM 950- $168.
03' KTM 450EXC- $107.
03' Kawasaki KLR 650- $107

Perhaps a high claim rate in ABQ?

I've ridden everywhere, but south. However, I plan to do some fall and winter rides out your way in a few weeks. If you want to show me some good roads, private email me.

Regarding higher rates--it's probably ABQ. Cities are usually higher. I don't think it's my driving record. I admitted to one speeding ticket in last three years (60 in a 50). However, Geico said it didn't show up the search, so others wouldn't have penalized me.

Uninsured Motorist is the largest premium component

The only breakout I have on hand is from State Farm statement (others said it was the highest premium component). Of the $788.94 annual premium, $380.32 was uninsured motorist!

Progressive agent was too agressive

I want to add that out of the four companies, I thought Progressive was going to give me the best quote (see poll results). Not only were they high, the home office agent was really pushy. After asking the required questions, he wanted a lot of details prematurely, such as SS# and other personal information. He was rude when I declined to provide that info until I could determine whether his company was going to be my carrier. Strangely, he seemed gleeful that the premium put him out the running. ... just a very weird experience.

Dairyland gives multi-bike, MSF and loyal customer discounts. Two riders on four bikes (2X K1200S, K1200RS and K1200GT) ~ $900 per year. Quotes from Geico and Progressive were about 35% higher and State Farm was almost twice the price at my last renewal.
