Puttering in the garage this evening, organizing the compartments. Ran across a couple of loose parts in the left side that look useful for something, but can't figure out what.

Scanned the parts fiche with no luck, and looked through the maintenance manuals, but not coming up with anything.

Anyone have any clues?

Those are covers for the battery terminals.

If you can't use the one for the + side terminal you can do what I did. I have a mouse pad covering the top of the battery. keeping things from shorting out, and that also makes a great soft pad for my Baehr unit under the seat.

Good idea! I've been paranoid about mounting/storing anything over the battery. Had a '64 Buick Gran Sport short a starter cable to ground and the volume of smoke was impressive as I frantically tried to unhook the battery. In the confines of the LT battery space, probably would just have to let it burn out.

Do you use Velcro to keep it in place, or is it just pretty much trapped?

a little manipulation with a pair of dikes....I like the info of the use of a mouse pat also...
