They basically changed the bike-it had matching METZELERS on it when I bought it

I don’t see a Road 6 GT in either the correct size, correct load range or correct construction (REINF) for the rear of the LT.

the front is spec size the rear is 180-55-17

I'm a psychology major,and if I get killed on a motorcycle because I went against spec., well at least I got to ride again at age 52.and really ride hard...

I don’t care if you kill yourself, but providing dangerous advice to others is something I care about. And it is nice that you documented what you are doing here so that the attorneys of anyone you harm can find this to support their lawsuits.

Advice,Advice,are you kidding me.What is this Dear Abbie from the newspaper reading era of the world.There's no liable talk on a motorcycle forum.I've never met you but here's my guess on what kind of human you are.Cell phone,internet addicted person who has a low heartrate from sitting inside your dwelling all day with no exercise and terrible diet.Am I close

Here are a few numbers to close out this thread.

79 rating 963 LB
73 rating 805 LB
Difference 158 lb under rated

LT wet weight 853
LT max Payload. 470
Decrease that by the under rated tire leaves 312 LB for you, your gear, your daughter and anything else you have in the cases. How much overloaded are you for that tire. When will flex fatigue result in ply separation or a sidewall failure at speed. They are not made for a bike of that weight. As KBOB said, best of luck but but please stop trying to convince us it is a safe good idea. That is a lie you should kindly keep to your selfe as long as you manage to live.

Come on that's uncalled for. If you're happy with your choice of tire and want to ride it like you stole it then that's fine. Personally I have had experience with these tires on my bike and it wasn't good. They have no sidewall integrity and personally I would never recommend them on any bike in the LT weight range.
Voyager is a valued member of this forum with many years experience on the LT and if he gives advice on something like this then it is advice that should be listened to.

Engineering specs don't lie.

Engineers love them some specs. Specs don't change over time just because you think you're smarter than an engineer. Specs don't care if you kill yourself. Specs don't care what a magnificent curve cowboy you are. Specs don't care if you bust a sidewall at high speeds and kill other people in the process. Specs just sit there, on the table, in a file cabinet or on a hard drive, ticking away, unchanged.

You should listen to the sage advice of others on this forum.

They've pointed out in exquisite detail - with specs - EXACTLY why you are not only wrong, but really, REALLY wrong.

I have listened sir-I have 540 dolars invested in these tires and I'm living in poverty levels in my life.So far after 2k miles I've had no negative issues with these tires-I ride on some of the worst paved country roads in the country.No issues so far

Here is my todays opinion and I've lived an incredible life feeling bi-polar lately at age 52 running everyday exercise wise exhausted everyday depending on my dog and my LT for my mental health-My bike was manufactured in the year 2000-Michelin,which is suppose to be the biggest tire company in the world,manufactored these tires in the year 2022.Do you guys as engineers think there might be a slight chance that rubber compound designs have caught up with each other-misspelled manufactured

No matter what you say, you have a tire with a "maximum" load rating 158LB below what is specified for the rear of an LT. It is just hard to defend that as being a good idea but you keep trying.
