I have an '03 LT with 40K miles on it.
Over the last season or two, I have noticed a metalic noise that seems to be "In Time" with the engine revolution at start up. This noise goes away close to immeadiately once the engine starts up.

However, this morning the metalic "Clinking" stayed with the engine for a revolution or two once it started.

I would describe the noise as a "Light" metal to metal sound. Similar to the noise you might get when clanging 2 spoons together.

It is present when the starter is first turning over the engine and then sometimes for a split-second after ignition.

Once the engine is started, you can imeadiately turn it off and the noise will not occur durring an immediate re-start.

It also seems to be more prevelant when the engine has not been started for a few days.

The engine runs fine once started.

Any ideas?

May be a timing chain rattle until the tensioner get oil pressure and takes out the slack.
