REVISED POST: I have a 2023 RT with Radio and Speakers and a USB port in the glove box. There is a "Media" icon on the TFT.

Does anyone know if the USB port is only a charging port, or is it a charging AND data port.

Thanks

ORIGINAL POST: I have a 2023 RT with Radio and Speakers. There is a "Media" icon which I'm assuming works with the USB port in the glove box.

I have a 2 USB Thumb Drives, both of which I've used successfully on my previous 2017 and 2014 RTs, however I'm unable to get it to work on my 2023 model.

I believe both are being "read" as it shows "playback", but that's it (see photo). Any insight or suggestions on how to get "Media" to work?

Hi Norriscyn, From your posted image, I presume you have the 2023RT. The USB port in the cubby is for charging only. Media is supplied by your phone once you have paired the phone to the bike. Cheers.

From what I recalled, the camhead MP3 player requires you to have your MP3s organized in a fixed specific ways. That is, they must be in folders of specific names. Look in your radio manual, and I think that you will find the requirement in there, otherwise do a search in this forum. I know that it had been discussed here, many years ago!

It's so much easier with the wetheads, since the radio will search for the MP3s regardless of how you had stored the files!!! ;)

Sixty has it right - music has to be played from the phone. Be aware there is a limit to how many tracks you can have on your phone - or they won't play. Sorry to say BMW doesn't indicate what the limit is, but my library of ~3000 tracks wouldn't play. I reduced it to a few hundred which worked OK. Also be aware tracks with restricted DRM won't play - like Apple Music.

Ahhhhhh . . . . the voice of the ignorance . . . again! Why do you insist on telling people of things that you DON'T know?

Here's the audio manual for the subject bike. For a start, look at page 16, then page 30.
The title of the thread is the 2023 bike. The photo the OP listed was for the TFT. But thanks for response yet again with a personal insult.

I DO apologize! I had read that as 2013 RT, which I had referred to as camhead!

OTOH, did you actually read the OP's post at all before responding??????

I just looked at the image and noted it was the 2021> dash and presumed the OP had made a typo in his original question, this was backed up by the correct description in the posting header.

What a surprise - can't even apologize in good faith.
