My friend is in Utah for some speed trials at Bonneville and the AHRMA
vintage roadrace at Miller Motorsport Park (lucky friend!) Of the many
amazing "speed-mobiles" ( diesels, hybrids, retro rods, streamliners,
and bikes from all corners of the globe) he said that there were several LT's
doing flat out runs.

Anyone know of this? If so, how about some pics or a ride tale.

Jeez! You don't need the Bonneville Salt Flats to reach max speed on an LT. That's why we have the Colorado and Montana.

(I would like to see pics though.) :)

I'd be interested in what the sure enough official top speed of a stock, unmodified LT is capable of and then how fast will one go with a little help. Or maybe, who has bragging rights as being the fastest man in the world on an LT and can prove it with a slip of paper from the salt flats.

Well, I have an 06 and in July down in Arizona had mine up to 131mph per my BMW navigator II GPS. In fact, I still have it saved on my top speed reading for bragging rights. I hit a long straight strech, decided to up the danger factor and just cranked it. After a few seconds I backed off, looked at the GPS and whoa, 131mph!! I guess the top speed of an 2006 is 136mph.

What I noticed most about the event was that the bike did not feel or handle any different at 131mph than at 80mph. What a great machine.

A risky move but rewarding.

2002 top speed

All I know is that every time a loud HD passes me, I have no trouble leaving him behind me with a twist of the throttle. Haven't met one that could keep up with mine yet. I haven't even had to down shift to get away from that damn noise.

<g> but that is not real solid bragging rights,

if I can find my pic of my fastest top speed on my LT per GPS you will see why

I think it was real close to 300 mph

Max Speed

no it did not fall out of a airplane!

My method exactly. I want to hear my music in with the headset instead of those loud pipes. I just don't see how a large group of Harley riders can stand the noise. The pecking order must be the most senior members in front to get the quietest ride.

I always clear my GPS after a little indiscretion. If you should get pulled over at some point, a knowledgeable officer may ask to see that reading. With a reading like that, any chance of getting let off with a warning has just gone by at about that same speed. JMHO

What was the top speed for an LT on the salt at Bonneville?
My 2006 almost reached 140 on the GPS going down tumbleweed hill in Austin texas on 2222. I had to let off due to the the left hand turn at the bottom.
Almost as much fun as left hand turn one at TWS in College Station, Texas.

No I did not drag anything...Fast guy know how not to drag their bikes on the street.

You can never escape the FOG..

Looking forward to HWY 7 at the 2007 CCR !!

No Tickets to date on the LT !
Three warnings the highes speed on radar was 123 mph...

I guess the color coordinated protective gear was help in getting off these tickets....Or do most cops just drool over these bikes?

I had one captain told they ordered 15 of these bikes
I knew he was wrong they only make the boxer cop bikes....another wantabe cop speeder....is the best to get pulled over by......

Never been faster than 105. Never been on the bike without the wife on the back, except the day I brought it home and she was following in the Jetta. She acts as a natural speed deterrent. She does not like the speed you drive, and she then turns on the pain-o-meter..

But if I had to take a guess, I'd say it's about 55 miles an hour slower than my other bike! :D

Besides speed records - there is a group that gives certificates for the "130 mph" club. I was there last year on my LT watching someone try to join - He only made 129.6 mph on his triumph. Maybe the LTs were doing speed runs for that.

ok, not to make too many jealous...

I hit 126, WAAS GPS verified last week, but below is a link to radar proof of me hitting 220 on my LT with nitrous, race slicks, and lowered suspension. Kids, don't do this at home...
