It has been that way for a long time, and also applies to many automobiles.

Yes the resale value is not good, as I found out when I was going to trade mine on an RT. Most dealers did not want an LT and those that did were offering me anywhere from 4,500 to 6,500 for it. It is an 05 with 44k on it and it is in really good condition and has not scratches or marks on it anywhere. I have also found if a dealer has a used one in their inventory they are less likely to want another one. Now if the dealer has and 05 model for sale they want 9,500 or more for it of course. Selling one privately is a better deal for the seller but more of a PITA. But the good news is that you can get a nice used LT at a good price.

Seems that the junk parts value of the LT is greater than a complete motorcycle.

Any and all motorized vehicles are worth much more in pieces than in one piece... a big reason wrecking yards, (and chop shops) exist..

I've watched ebay for K1200LT parts for many years.

Currently there are tons of parts to choose from. Mnay times I just scratch my head at the prices places that buy LTs and dismantle ask?!!

Quite often I'll see the same part by the same place listed week after week.

Some of my favorites are tupperware parts with broken tabs, deep gauges, and tons of scrath marks that, to me, aren't worth the shipping cost.

Along with those are the canisters that people remove and throw away, along with the rubber brake lines that suffer blow outs.

Sounds like you've seen a lot of parts listed by that "outfit" out of Ohio. I've never seen so much beat up junk, at new or near new prices. I don't know how they can still be listing on ebay with the crap they are trying to pawn off on unsuspecting buyers.
