I have been riding BMW K1200 LT bikes for a while now but have not had much luck finding organized groups to ride with near me. Looks like most of the fun happens back east but I live in sunny southern California, 105 degrees today by the way. Anyway Although I get to work on the k1200 bikes rarely do I get to ride with them for one reason or another. Most common thing said to me is "you should start a club here out west " Well maybe that's where this may lead! For now just looking for riders that love to ride, and ride to eat.

I do have some great friends who have a small group of Harleys and crotch rockets that my wife, daughters and myself ride with but it not the same as riding with common bikes. For one thing I like to listen to my outside radio when I ride. Kind of hard to hear radio riding with Harley's if you know what I mean? LOL. Its also fun pulling into a lot full of Goldwing's and set my bike up on the automatic center stand just to watch their jaw drop! I almost always have someone comment out loud "where did you get that" And I usually say "E-Bay" while chuckling. All in fun my friends, all in fun!

Anyway, If you ride in the Riverside County area or San Diego area and ride BMW touring bikes please let me know. I would love to either show you the county side or just join in one of your groups. Most of my local rides are either to Julian, Palomar mountain, Lake Cuyamacha, Anza Borego, Santa Isabel, and surrounding areas.

P.S. Summer rides for us start early AM to beat the heat!

BMW Club of Southern California has a strong Facebook presence, you might want to look them up. I've not had the chance to ride with them yet, being in Phoenix, but they seem like a pretty fun group of guys, and they ride a LOT. Check 'em out!

I should also add..... I am not against riding with bikes other than BMW's. I just like riding with full dress bikes, little smoother and slower.

then I guess you might not be against riding with other BMW Rt riders? I'm in Jurupa Valley. :wave
Not at all! Welcome aboard. I will even ride with the BMW Adventure bikes, however where they can go I cant follow. LOL
Why am I starting to feel like I am coming off as a motorcycle racist? LOL
Maybe I will just post a time and meeting place for ride day and just see who shows up! Ill ride with any bikes and people who are looking for good clean cruising fun, I'm usually the only LT in the groups I ride with and My bike gets lonely.

Hi Mark65

I checked out the website for southern California bmw riders and it looks like fun. however I'm looking for new friends that ride local in san diego or riverside county areas. All of the rides they listed take 2 hrs driving just to get to the meeting area. I'm trying to avoid having to camp out just to enjoy a day ride. But I will keep an eye on their site and join in if they make it down this way. They have a san diego area ride listed but it is canceled now.

back to looking for local big bike riders

Why am I starting to feel like I am coming off as a motorcycle racist? LOL

That reminds me of a motorcycle racist story that happened to me.... I was riding my 1999 Triumph Sprint ST in Colorado and met some fellow Triumph riders in a gas station in Gunneson CO. After filling up, I went over and chatted with them. Interestingly, one of them was from So Cal and was in a Triumph group. He rode a Bonneville I asked if I could ride with his group in So Cal. He shifted around nervously and said well...um...your bike isnt really the look of the bikes in our group. Puzzled, I asked what he meant. He said..Well our Triumph group rides vintage bikes. I asked him what year bike he rode and he said 2008. I said, My bike is a 99...its more vintage than yours!! He agreed but clarified that they were looking to ride with anyone with a vintage LOOKING Triumph. He said if I ever bought a vintage or vintage looking Triumph that I could ride with him. I thought, there arent a whole lot of Triumphs out there and he is discriminating against my more vintage bike. Pretty amazing. I just shook my head in disbelief and shook hands and finished my awesome ride home from Colorado.:bmw:
