Mate of mine has an 01 Harley, when the bike is rested on the side stand
it forces the stand to rise up into a groove which locks the side stand solid. It's brilliant...
Has anyone thought of a modifying for LT to do the same ?

One of the problems I have noticed since buying the LT is that when the engine is turned off after the front brake is applied it tends to roll forward if on a slight down slope, until you apply more front brake due to the ABS-Servos. Ideally you park up-hill but this is not always possible especially when
stopping on the side of the road.
Locking the rest would prevent it collapsing back if this happens.

You might just want to leave it in gear and let it roll until it stops then put the side stand down. I use this method on my RT (where I learned it) as well. Plus I bought the Wunderlich sidestand foot to give more ground contact. Seems to work well enough for me.

Tony some type of locking mechanism sounds like a great idea.
I personally do not trust the side stand so never use it.

On Rt's you can buy a police verison side stand that has a little bolt head that locks into a hole when pressure is on it, won't roll forward.
