While trying to remove my steering damper I managed to strip out the T30 bolt.... now what should I do? Sawzall?
Agravating....
I hope I am not the first dunderhead to do this..... If I am, so be it. :kaboom:
My first try would be an extractor or "EZ Out", similar to this link I beat the extractor into the T30 hole with a hammer, then try to remove (counterclockwise). If that won't get it, a die grinder or dremel with a cut-off disc? In any event, you'll need a replacement bolt.
Drilling a smaller hole, so that the screw extractor will grab tightly sounds about right. Than you may re-tap --metric taps are available at most hardware stores. If you have a heat gun...warming up the area will help the process.
