A friend of my just installed ( on HD ) the flashing LED lights for his brakelight. Pretty neat. Has anyone seen a plug and play system for the LT? I have on 09 and would love to install one of them.
Short of that may just have to put the single LED bulb in there.

Not exactly a custom-made for the LT but they work and are fairly easy to install.

I also saw some at my local Cycle Gear shop that were about $35 or so as I recall, can't speak to the quality though.

keep in mind in Canada flashing red lights are only permitted on emergency vehicles - if people cannot see a big fire truck with all the lights flashing/siren going they are not going to make any difference on a bike - nothing makes up for defensive driving and assuming that no one sees you

I'll keep looking, but thanks for the site. I like the ones that flash twice in quick succession and then go to solid. I've never had a burnt out light so not sure what to expect whats in there. Assume its just a couple of bulbs.

Keith,
You may want to look at on of these brake light flashers from A&S cycles. You will need to splice in the wires under the rear trunk.

I have the HyperLites on my LT and on my trailer. Have worked great for 5+ years and going strong.

Being a police officer and the crashes I've been to where some yahoo rear ends a bike, I need all the light I can throw back there.

Know what you mean, Keith. I am retired L.E., as you might have guessed. Been there, seen that.

You should see the rear of my bike and of my trailer. Both light up like the mother ship from Close Encounters of the Third Kind when I hit the brakes!

A source for LED replacement bulbs and LED flashers is SuperBrightLEDs.com (no affiliation). I have used them several times, as have other members of this community, and have nothing but positive things to say about them and their products.

Having a lot of lights at the rear is a good thing but if I ever get rear ended it will be my fault for not seeing them coming. I plan an escape route at every stop and lock into the mirrors as soon as it is safe.

I also watch traffic coming up and I will release the brake and re-engage it when they are in range so as to re-play the deceleration patterns programmed into my rear lights in an effort to be a bit more visible.

Like John said, I generally try to not get too close to the vehicle in front of me in order to maintain an escape route. Not sitting in a center lane helps as well, as there are additional options if in inner or outer lane. Works even better on the bike than it does in my SUV or police car as it does not take as much room to maneuver out of harm's way, and the LT takes off much quicker than the cage.

also braking hard early rather than closer to stopping point wakes people up, around here people are hardest on brakes as close to the stopping point as posible - no room for error

I use the P3 lights on my LT. Like the hyper lights, but I think a bit brighter and you can change what they do when the brakes are applied and the double as another tail light. Very bright lights. I have the horizontally under my license plate, the full width of my plate, a good distance from the tail lights so they done blend in and they really stand out. I also did the center bulb conversion in my tail light so all three bulbs now light when brakes are applied and not just the two outside bulbs.
