I have just purchased a second hand K1200 LT, I went on a 600 mile cruise and on my return I discovered a tapping like noise on the left hand side of the engine. It has 50 000Km's on the clock and is in an exellent condition. Any suggestions or FREE workshop manuals that I can download to solve the noise.

Welcome from an ex Richards Bay guy. A valve job may be in order, also check the oil level, or give it a fresh 4 quarts.

Your fuel rail is on that side too, so it might be the injectors you are hearing.

If you are hearing it at idle and your helmet is off then it is most likely injector noise - normal (they are really noisy). If you are hearing a rattle sound at idle and it goes away as rpm increases then it is the K knock. The crank dives a gear that drives the output shaft that drives a gear to turn the alternator. All those gears do is bang around with no load. Some are quieter than others.
