Going through the garage, I came across a box of spare parts. Wooo hoooo!

I found an entire clutch assembly, and it looks nice and clean, no oil, no cracks, no burns, etc. IIRC, this clutch came off an '02 with about 18k miles.

Thickness of the clutch plate is 5.69mm. The new one I recently purchased is 5.71mm. Wish my 05's clutch wore like that. 33k and already replacing after dealer said no leak and thus extended warranty would not cover it.

P/N is for the one I found is 2121-2333448 and the one I purchased is 2121-7670455. Both have "Sachs" and "BMW" scribed on them. Found one "Made in Germany" and new one "Made in Slovakia."

MY QUESTION: I am preparing to replace the clutch in my '05 LT. Are the two discs equivalent? If so, I would like to use the 'found' one because my dealer said I can return the parts I ended up not needing. What a blessing it would be to save that $$ right now!

Thanks, JZ, that is what I figured. Confirmation is always nice when going in that deep!

Would I be correct in guessing that the clutch assembly bits have not changed 02 to 05? For that matter, was there ever a change to the clutch assembly across any LT years?

Would I be correct if I were to presume that a superseded item is still ok to use if one has a good one in their posession?
