Looking at the manual (p62.3), it seems that instrument panel lights are DIN 72 601, 12V 1.7W. These seem to be very similar to BP74, is this a legit swap?

I want to change all of the bulbs at once to avoid going back in any time soon. Thinking of swapping to LEDs (red for lower impact on night vision) Anyone done this before? Any pitfalls to be aware of on a 2000 LT-C?

Which type of LED did you use? Now that you are used to them, would you do it the same way if you had it to do over again?

Speaking of red LEDs. Does anyone know where I can get the Red LED for the anti-theft system on a 2002 LT. BMW no longer can get them. Beemersboneyard or cyclesrecyleds don't have one. I don't use the alarm but it still works. Only problem is sometimes when I reconnect the battery it sets the alarm and I don't know it until it scares the hell out of me when I switch on the ignition...

If you just want an led with a surface mounting retainer that wires from behind, you can pick one up at Fry's (if they have those in your area), Radio Shack, or elsewhere. If you know the size and brightness you want, I'll be happy to get one for you and send it out. I just picked one up over the weekend that I'm going to mount on my dash.

Attached are scans of the package. HTH

Thank you, John

That thread was just what I needed. I am going to do the LEDs so I don't have to worry about replacing any time soon. Will go with a brighter LED to make up some of the diff. Doing a bulk buy on LEDs, so I'll just replace all of the gauge and indicator bulbs at once and save a little coin.

Again -- Thank you.

Some people have mounted a LED to indicate when the heated seat is on.

Some people have added LEDs to license plate lights etc.

Building on that, one could make a nice, SMALL (about 1/4"x 2" visible, or smaller), bracket to hang under the Co-Pilot shelf to show small color-coded LEDs for Rider heat hi/lo, Pax heat hi/lo, and anything else of interest.

The LED I scanned (see a few posts up in this thread) is a T1 (3mm) and one could fit quite a few of them in that space. Labeling would be a PITA, but could use LED color and layout to compensate for lack of labels.

Hmmmmmmm
