It isn't. I have three Vista machines and one XP machine. They are all stable, but after getting used to the changes in the Vista interface, I prefer it. It has become quite popular to blame Vista - even for problems not related to the OS.KMC1 said:Man, I hope Vista isn't as bad as I keep hearing it is.......

First do some reading on the Vista alerts and how to turn them off (MAJOR PITA with them running).KMC1 said:Man, I hope Vista isn't as bad as I keep hearing it is.......
I need to upgrade my PC next week, and the new one (a Dell) is coming loaded with Vista Home Premium,
Thank you for the info!Morley said:First do some reading on the Vista alerts and how to turn them off (MAJOR PITA with them running).
Next read up on the differences between XP and Vista and make note of the big ones.
If you are using one of the older MS office programs and the Dell has office 2007 on it...be sure to read up on the differences there, they are many and varied. 2007 is VERY different from the older products.
At least the teletubbies background from XP is gone.
Toe Office 2007 you get with it should not be a trial, but a full version. You'll probably get 60 day trial version of Norton though.KMC1 said:Thank you for the info!
I actually just checked the DHL delivery page and WOW, it looks like I'm supposed to get the new PC this afternoon sometime... that's really pretty impressive since I only ordered it on 5/21....
It does come with Office '07 installed, not sure how long the trial is for it though... I have XP version of Office that I'm hoping I can load up....and a bunch of misc. software... etc..... Fingers are crossed already....
No, it's not. I'm running Business on one L/T and Ultimate (64 bit) on two D/T's. I have found it to be a stable platform and more intuitive than XP. Not all programs are backwards compatable, like MS claims, however.KMC1 said:Man, I hope Vista isn't as bad as I keep hearing it is....
IF all the software you need to run will run on it.ChasnRacin said:Once you go Mac, you'll never go back. It just works :rotf:
RAM is something that you just can't have enough of (post Win98). All of my XP machines have at least a gig. I wouldn't even think of owning a Vista machine with less than 2 gig. Vista uses almost 3/4 gig just booting up.RonKMiller said:I now know the value of having 3GB of ram vs. 512K. :yeah:
Yes Ron, absolutely! Ultimate (64 bit) requires 4gb ram, min. HUGE difference in speed and capability. Combine that with a quad core processor at 2.8gh or better, and you're screamin'.RonKMiller said:....I now know the value of having 3GB of ram vs. 512K.
Right! I tried 8gb in my new build, but processor didn't seem to like it. So, settled for 4gb.messenger13 said:RAM is something that you just can't have enough of....
