This sucks..........I have been out sick all week. On Wednesday I go to the doc to get some stronger meds. On the way home I find out one of the twins has a fever and was asked by the wife (she is at work) take kids meds to grandma's house. All my in-laws and I live on 15 acres. (This has good and bad points.) My wife and I have 5 and grandma has 10 and there is small dirt road to her house. I swing by our house to get the meds. The dogs, love to run next to the truck to grandma's, like a little escort. I saw the two others, one to the left front and the one in the rear view mirror. The third I thought did not come as they some times do, stay at home. Next I hear is yelping and thump. My heart stank as I got to the yelping sound of my dog in pain.
I was in panic mode. Once I calmed down the dog, "Sarge" calmed down too. He could not get up. With help from my in-laws got Sarge in the truck. Short story. I could tell his hind quarters were screwed up bad.
Once at the doggie er, X-rays showed a shattered pelvic bone on both sides. This is the same "Sarge" that was run over by the wife and had pins in front leg a few months early. Our dogs are outside dogs and hang out on the property. We had to make a decision which was best for all. We felt that cause of his age, 8, his other front legs, and the possible that repairing him might not work. We did not want to put him through all the pain. It sucked, cried like a baby. He was put to sleep.
It has taken me two days to type this and get it off my chest. He was a great dog.
Sarge RIP.................
