One More Candian Out In The Wilderness

Just thought I'd add a hello.
I am going to pick up my bike in a week or so from a dealer in Rochester, NY.
I'm in Hamilton and will be up to a ride to meet as many as interested in the Spring.
Keep posted.

What's the deal in the US?

I was looking for one here in Sourthern Ontario and also found the pickings very slim and quite expensive.
So... began checking ebay and found what looked like a good deal in Rochester. I wanted to buy from a dealer so that I could also run it through my dealer in Burlington. I let him purchase it and then gave him his mark up and then I feel like I have some recourse when there are problems, certification, etc.
Even with the exchange, dealer mark up, gst, RIV amount ( 182), etc. the bike will still save me approx. $6,000 over what McBride Cycle in Toronto said they sold a used 00 this past summer for with almost the same KM's. (17,500) vs: all in as described $11,000.

There are a lot of these bikes in the US and you should be able to find one in every corner of the country.
Daytona and Orlando BMW dealer (same owner) have alot at any given time.

I think that when the bike was introduced in 99 the exchange was somewhere around 50% against the USD. It is now around 20% (actually 18% when I came across the border with it), which makes the whole proposition more palatable. BMW would probably never drop the price on the bikes to reflect the exchange drop, or maybe it doesn't make any difference because it is coming out of Germany, in any event, there would be more of them if the price was more accessible.
As it is now, they seem to go very quickly when they do come up in Cnada and there are just not alot on the market.

Good Luck and keep me posted.
