Hi.

I have a new 2011 GTL. I got it last Dec 23rd. I only have 2700 KM on it (about 1600 miles)

My problem is I have a pinched nerve in my lower back. I developed this after I got the bike. This is preventing me from lifting my left foot enough to change gears, especially up, 2, 3 4 ect. So I haven't been able to ride.

Has anyone ever seen a heal and toe shifter or heard of a an Air Shifter used on a BMW. I have seen the Air Shifers on the net for Hyabusha and Vrods.

Thx

Norm.

Hi Norm.... just a casual observation from what you've written, but it seems to me like you'd be better off getting that damn nerve sorted out, sounds like you've got sciatic pain issues stopping you enjoying riding. Having been through that, it can take a long time to overcome, but I don't expect you'll enjoy your riding as much until you do.

cheers from the other side

Thanks for the replies. Yes I have seen my doctor and yes its going to take a long time to heal. More than just Sciatica I'm afraid. I just miss riding and looking for solutions to get back on the road.

Sorry that this happened to you but i have not heard of anyone coming out with a Hell Toe shifter for the K16. There are a few older threads about this on the k1600 forum with no luck over there either.

and get it done ASAP. I have a friend who delayed surgery too long. although they were able to replace the disc in his back, the nerve had been pinched for so long, there is permanent numbness in my friends leg.

Similar here... took me 12 months to find a doctor that could do something with my 3 bulging discs... by that time I didn't think I'd ever walk properly again... 18 months later started surfing again... and that was nearly 20 years ago. Good luck getting it sorted quickly! :bmw:

An air shifter is likely pretty generic.. You could probably adapt one of those...

Good Luck,

Thank you for all the well wishes. This isn't the first time this has happened to to me. I just miss riding, I have a new bike and the good riding weather is way too short here in Vancouver BC. Canada.

I guess I am being too impatient. slow recovery.

Thanks all
