I have a 2008 RT and somehow my heat grip indicator always shows 2 dots indicating the hand grip heater is fully engaged, regardless of the switch being on or off. I am not sure how this got set this way but is there an easy way to reset the CANBUS/computer or is this something the dealer has to adjust in the system? I thought about disconnecting the battery terminals for a period of time to reset it, but thought it would be safe to ask first. Is this common?
Thanks,
Jed

Its your seat dude...

Grips are controlled by the "slider" on the right hand grip... no indicator.

Look under the lip/edge of the right-hand side of the passenger seat. There is a rocker switch. Low direction, High direction and Off in the middle.

And, to answer your question... no, its not common.

Read your owner's book too.

Ok yeah idiot alert, when I was washing the bike I must have flipped that on. I have never had a passenger on the bike so when I saw the indicators I did not put 2 and 2 together. I might just delete this thread from the pure stupidity stand point.
Thanks all,

Actually, keep the thought. There are lots of uses for the pillion seat heater. On an especially cold day I use it to warm the backside of my butt. And, it keeps the take-away warm on the way home, and pre-warms the second pair of gloves for when the first pair get wet on a rainy day. Ya just gotta think outside of the box.
