Can't quite figure your post out. Did your gear indicator go south when you changed the final drive. I have conflicting information on gear potentiometers, dealer says you need to use factory computer to sync (recognize) the new potentiometer and another post I saw said that after going into each gear for 30 seconds the system recognized the new gear potentiometer and the positions. I have not tired this. This is one item the makers of the GS-911 are looking into also.
the gear ratio has to sync with tach and speedo for the gear indicator to work, Haven't found a fix yet, Bmw sells different fd but no one there seems to know how to change the on board pc.
My gear potentiometer works fine till I swap to the 2.82, then blank
