my rt came with a nav 3, (piece of shit) useless with the sun out, I had an Iway I loved, 5in screen and easy to use, plenty bright in the sun, well it shit the bed and not made anymore, so now what? have seen the new gamins and not impressed. Anything out there bright and bigger screen? wouldn't mind something with a sat radio. I have a shelf so mounting is not a problem.

Garmin is pretty much the industry leader in this dept. Have you looked at the Zumo 665? Bigger screen and it has the features you're looking for.

+1
BMW NAV IV = Zumo 665

I like mine. But, this is the first GPS I've owned so....
my opinion, worthless.
I'm happy with mine but I'm afraid to make a recommendation for fear you will come and sh*t MY bed.

+1 also on the 665.

We love our 665 and the satellite radio. Yeah, there are time's when the sun hits it just right that it's pretty difficult to see but these are few and far between. I've got ours loose enough that when the sun does hit it I can reach up and tilt it slightly and that solves the sun problem. We've also got the Nexrad radar and it has come in really handy in dodging some bad weather.

I thought bmw nav = zumo 660... not the 665. The 665 comes with the ability to get satellite radio.
That's what the dude at Garmin told me.
I have the NAV IV and called on an issue.
He said it was essentially a Zumo 665 that was
slightly tweaked for BMW.
I could be wrong or misinformed.

Here's a thread from almost a year ago that discusses this.

See my post in another thread on the GPS forum here (you may do some reading there if you are considering one). I'm thinking about the Garmin Zumo 665 because I want the satellite radio too (to use on the bike, car, elsewhere). But the Garmin folks hinted at a new version coming soon so I've been standing by. Then my BMW dealer told me that he heard it direct from Garmin that the new version is a year out. So maybe I'll go for it now, figuring that out. If you look at it on Amazon, you will see that there are accessories like a nice hood to shield it from the sun, etc. One benefit to buying an established product - lots of available accessories.
The dealer told me yesterday that an updated version of the Nav IV is coming out the 1st of May. He said there were a few software changes, but did not elaborate.
I like my Nav IV. My bike has the radio and satelitte so having that built into the NAV was not a requirement for me.
