I had a zumo 450 wired directly to the BMW gps plug located near the front forks and it worked fine. I recently purchased a Nuvi 550, wired it identical to the zumo and the nuvi is not getting power from the motorcycle while running or not. Am I missing something?

thank you

I think you need to use the Nuvi power supply in your circuit. I believe they are 5 volts not the 12 the bike delivers. Give it a test and see.

Yup, its worth noting that most new GPS are 5v- it means they can charge whilst plugged into the computer for updates etc. You can also get a micro-usb car charger with 12v in, 5v out. I bodged one on my 1150RT to a Garmin Nuvi 765, which sits in a water-resistant case.

Got a model car battery connector plug as connection to my homemade accessory loom-

Rough, but it works. Aim to integrate it all when I have more time.
