Just mounted Nuvi 550, and am wondering how people have tethered GPS in case the mount fails? I have wire tethers on my mirrors, and they have saved me a few times, mostly when I try to squeeze by the bike in my overstuffed garage! Suggestions or pics?

Never thought of needing it, my GPS has never come off, even on the GS in the dirt. Touratech sells some locking protective mounts.

I have a power cord for mine that fits VERY snugly...which is a good thing because despite adjusting the mount to hold the GPS better, twice I've been riding on rough road and the GPS has popped out of its mount and was saved by said power cord.

I'd thought of gluing an eyelet to the back of the GPS, connecting with aircraft wire to the mount with a clip on the GPS end (I use the GPS in the car as well, so not really interested in a permanent, PERMANENT mount).

Something like this (but smaller, obviously)
