So today at work it was a little slow and I was just hanging out messing with the bike and decided to check tire pressure. They were both a little low so i added a couple pounds. As I am coming home on North ave. about 30 MPH I had to swerve to miss a cell phone talking moron that decided to change lanes with out even looking. I hit a pothole (only sposed to have those in the winter?) so hard both of my mirrors popped off. I got home and no damage that I could tell. Good thing my tires were not too low, don't know why I checked em but glad I did.

Is that normal, is there an added security fix for the mirrors? I know they are breakaway but that seemed a little premature. even though it felt pretty darned hard..

Anyway we survived.... Even with a little hick-up, riding to work every day keeps me sane... Carry on...

Cheers,
David

Good thing your LT came with the tethers for the mirrors (I assume). You might want to check the gap around the mirrors where they connect to the bike. You can add washers to the "ball screws" which anchor the mirrors to the the bike fairing if it is not even.
Enjoy your LT!

Dave self ejecting mirror are an option, not :)
If you have not already tether them with zip ties or something equivalent. They are $350 each to replace

I am also sure the cell phone user was hands free, right.

Sound like they come with tethers now? The gap is important as it allows the spring clips to go fully over the ball pins. There should also be a light film of grease that ensures the clip go over and around the ball. If there is no gap in the mirror to body area they won't hold worth a darn. There should be a few washers under some tape in the mirror base area. Just don't try to tighten the ball pins to tight as they will shear.

I have hit a few hard bumps but have only had two of the three clips pop on me.
