I must be doing sumthin right, got back from CCR (3000 mi) washed bike this A.M. checked over everything including tire pressure and went for a ride to the Mother-in-laws for dinner. When I was getting ready to leave I noticed the rear tire looked low and checked it had 20PSI. Just hrs. earlier it was at 48 and I did not see anything obviously wrong. When I tried to add air I noticed the Valve stem was coming apart. This was a OEM BMW stem with @ 5000 mi on it replaced with the last tires. I am pretty sure that I will replace both front and rears with metal ones. What do y all think? Just glad it did'nt come apart in bumfuch in the middle of the night to and from CCR.

Yup - do the metal valve stems, David. And pass the word to the other LT owners down in the Houston/Galveston 'hood.

Glad your wake up call happened at the right place and the right time.
