Ride from Orlando to Hartsville SC (450miles) was awsome.

Got chilly, but gerbings saved the day.

GREAT ride up I 95!

It would have been a perfect week for riding in my corner of PA were it not for the salt and cinders on the road from last weekend's freak Nor'easter. I ventured out on Monday and regretted it once I got a few miles from home. There were patches everywhere that I could not tell if they were wet, black ice or just salt-free. And of course all summer, we couldn't go 2 days without a downpour but now that I want some rain to clean the roads...not a drop for 5 days and none in sight for the next 5.

Paul:

was that you yesterday on I95 near Daytona about 4PM? I was the blue LT with golf clubs strapped across the back seat.

I took 9A because of the time (530PM), I should have stayed on 95, (9A construction), straight through JAX.

My clubs act like a GIANT speed brake! My mileage went from my usual 44-45 at 80MPH down to 37.

Great crusin' with ya'

Be safe

Was that golf clubs on the back of the bike? I could not tell what these were.

Yes, I believe it was me. You cut off just before Jacksonville FL and I stayed on 95N

I got to Hartsville SC just around 10:30 pm.

I was admiring the "red neck luggage" you had :histerica

I ride up 95 to SC and further north at least once a month.

I must make a minor correction. TRUE Red Neck Luggage would be if the clubs were wrapped in matching Wal-Mart sacks!

Do you have a picture of your bike with the clubs "attached"?

As promised here are the photos.

Lay the clubs and carrier so that it is a little more aerodynamic, the carrier is somewhat of a rectangle. Center as best as possible.

Use crank straps for security. Hook from inboard to outboard for better grip. The hooks attach to the sidecase handles. You could loop the hooks through for total security but I have never had them come loose.

Thread the excess strap into the top box to prevent flapping.

Ride and hit 'em straight!

The only issue I have is with the LT's low mirrors. You loose most of your rearward visibility. I need to get tall "GS" type mirrors which would look over the clubs. I would install and remove the extra mirrors as required.

My mileage dropped from 44-45 to 36-37 on this trip along I95/I4 at 80-85 MPH. The clubs and carrier ARE NOT aerodynamic enhancers!

Be safe.
