And I've been unable to ride for the last eight months due to non-life threatening medical issues as well as unable to maintain my physical conditioning, such as it was before. And I'm turning 68 shortly.

I did get on the bikes--I've got a K12 and a couple of K11LTs--a couple of times during that period, and while I felt good while riding in local venues, there was an increase in distractions from the medical problems; down here in El Paso, the local riding is not challenging.

And so I'm thinking about my future as a rider; I don't want to be a statistic like those in the linked article.

Just fretting...

Whats that saying about, lies, damn lies, and statistics.. ?

Interesting that they don't try to put it into perspective of how many more riders there are on the road when they compare the rising stats.
The only reference sited was "In 1990, about 10 percent of motorcycle riders were over 50, compared to 25 percent in 2003."
Hmmmm, lets see, if you were 50 in 2003, then you were only 37 in 1990.... I wonder how many riders of long standing have pushed up those "stats" numbers by simply growing older and continuing to ride?

BTW, nice to see how the passengers get rid of those stupid tank-top suntan lines...
