I do a 53mile trip to work every day down small country lanes and twisty b roads, I don't dawdle and would say most of my trip is between 70-80mph with a few bits where i have to slow it down to 50-60mph. Over the first month or so of ownership i've kept my eye on fuel consumption as i'm interested to see how it compares to my old 1200adv, well i'm happy to say the big old girls doing a pretty constant 56.5mpg :D is this about right for the rest of you guys. My old 1200adv averaged 45-48mpg and my fireblade did about 39. My Harleys softail's not to bad at 43 but my ex paris dakar airhead will not do more than 37.

christ i've just been reading an old thread and most the guys are getting mid 40's and i was thinking "hell i'm riding it far to slow" then my mate just pointed out that most of the guys are in the USA and a US gallon is smaller than a british gallon, pheeew. :rotf:

When I ride "within the recommended guidelines" of the roads, I can get 52 or so (05 w/Rhinewest + Remus).

When I ride harder, which is normal, I'll get 45-46.

I can live with the 45-46.

My average under a wide range of speeds and conditions is more like about 44-45 miles per US gallon. BTW, my calculated mileage is always about 2 to 3 more miles per gallon than the computer says.

you must ride pretty easy, My Lt never got that mileage, and my GSA has never ever seen 45, its low to mid 30's and mioght touch 40 once in a great while, I swear there is something wrong with my gsa cause everyone keeps saying how these things get 45-50 mpg, maybe at 40 mph
they do.

Try and redo the numbers keeping in mind that the original poster is in the UK where they use Imperial gallon! The factor to convert imperial gallon to US gallon is to multiply by 0.8, which means that 45 imperial mpg is equal to 36 US mpg! ;)

dang, I run 80-82 mph one up, not loaded heavy, in fact I have never packed this bike with any gear!

I have got as low as 31 mpg, usually get 33 from Ga to FL I-75

10 mpg difference, , I don't go by the bikes computer, i go by the old fashion method of miles / gls used at the pump

several times I have put in 9gls under 300 miles , I try to stop every 275 now to be sure I dont run out of gas, (587 miles) most are about 8.1-8.3 gls at the 275 ish mark, I just saw over at ADV a power commander for the 1200gs, I'm this>< close to buying it.

there has to be something wrong with my bikes fuel management, keep in mind these trips are sustained speeds for darn near 300 miles at a time, (cept in the contruction zones that drop to 60 and 50 mph, but there is only about a combined 70 (or so)miles of them on these trips the wifes GS does far batter at just about 40 -42 mpg riding with me if I'm not mistaken (i'l have to ask her again) .

My wife and I just finished a 12,000 mile trip and averaged 40-41 mpg while pulling a Bushtec utility trailer. When we travelled without the trailer we averaged about 50 mpg. Milage was kept by my gps and I calculated the mpg when we fueled up.

I have been tracking from day one of my LT.... I now have 3200 miles and am averaging 47mpg...not great but good enough for me

Me and Barney are just fine, thanks for asking. I might slow down at work one of these days and I'll ride up and let you buy me coffee. :D

Metric, eh? Let me see, a gallon of gas is about 4 pounds British. Divide that by 1.4162 Celcius and I get around 40 to 44 mpg. So that's about 40cc per millimeter.....Oh, heck. Forget it............

Nope i can't be riding like a "GIRL" cos i've just checked and both tyres are being used RIGHT to the edge (no chicken strips there then) and i've managed to grind the fairing & footpegs on both sides :D and the police officer last thursday couldn't believe an LT could lean over that far at that speed (nice guy, said he wasn't going to book me as he was having so much fun trying to keep up on his unmarked pan european) I did an experiment today to see if sticking in 5th and using the brake as little as possible and carrying as much corner speed (within safe limits)would help consumption and the puta showed 58.7 on the way to work. the return down the same road but giving it large and braking down for corners and it showed 45. so keep it fast and smooth and bingo 290 per tank :D

I'd wet myself if I ever got over 45MPG. I'm consistently in the 38-42 range. Only after switching to synthetic lube did I creep into the low 40's. It's better than my truck which is getting 12.5 as of last week.
