For such a beautifully designed bike I think the Screen supports are really poorly designed. They have bugged me since day 1. So much so I attempted to paint the screen to hide the "glitch".
Looks like the people that designed the front covers on the outside didn't consult the ones that designed the supports on the indside.Surely they could have made them related instead of a reuse of the previous models.
Looks ugly for me as the rider but also from the front.
Just saying...

Ha, you should have seen the flimsy "support" brackets for the hexhead range of RTs!! I replaced two out of four on mine, as they were made from cast aluminium and broke every time the sun was out :( They couldn't handle the air pressure even with the standard screen, never mind larger aftermarket jobs. Beemer Boneyard did good business selling the aftermarket SS items to me and many others.

In comparison these are properly engineered things of beauty. I do agree however that cohesion between the brackets and their covers could be much better.

I must admit I've never really looked at them with a critical eye before. It does appear that BMW did TRY to design some aesthetics into them. From the front, they do follow the lines of the dash behind them.

As always, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Me? I'm ambivalent; I don't love or hate them as long as they work.

Not to mention the other threads discussing which way the front covers are supposed to be mounted. :D
