Morning all. Had an interest in adding an F650GS into the stable just for fun. Presently, '08 V-Star 1100, and '09 RT. Haven't ridden a "naked bike" for 35 years, and while the dealer didn't have an F650GS in stock, she did have a 650GS, so I test-rode that.
Wow. Sure gave me a new appreciation for the RT. It was very windy here, and I didn't realize just how much wind protection that RT provides until I rode the 650GS in those same conditions. Many other differences too. Of course, they're very different machines, and I thought the 650 would be fun for getting off the beaten path - gravel, dirt, fields, and so on, yet competent for running errands, or running far. Surprisingly, I thought the RT was more nimble on pavement than the 650.
Don't know whether I'll bite on an F650GS, but I sure gained additional appreciation for what a fine machine the RT is.
