- Parking enforcement contractor for a subdivision's HOA boots this guy's Audi (under restoration) for not having the parking placard displayed properly
- Owner of car decides to have some fun at the expense of the parking enforcement contractor (Arizona Parking Solutions - APS)
- Puts his car on dollies and rolls her into the garage. APS goes nuts looking for booted car to collect fine ($140) and recover their boots.
- Owner calls police to check legality of removing boots. Can't remove them, but nothing in law keeps you from moving vehicle to other location.
- Owner calls APS and tells them they can come get their boots if they want. APS shows up, tells owner it's $140 to remove the boots. Owner says, nah, the boots can stay one (as he's probably 6-12 months away from completing the restoration and doesn't need the car)
- APS calls police. Police come. Owner gives APS permission to remove boots, but refuses to pay fine. Police tell APS to take the boots and go. APS general manager makes threats and is physically restrained by Police. APS takes boots and says will bill the HOA.
- Owner goes to HOA meeting. HOA somewhat supportive, but only offers to pick up half the fine. Owner asks for contract with APS. HOA provides. Owner finds that contract stipulates only $90 for unbooting, and only after several warnings have been issued.
- Owner contacts lawyer and HOA on this discovery.
- Next day, APS boots many many cars in neighborhood, including contractor's vehicles working on homes in the subdivision.
- After some very hillarious photos of various aspects of this situation, there is an update. HOA calls APS on the carpet over issue.
- APS contacts police over the increasing flood of phone calls, emails, DoS attacks on their website, threats, etc., since posting of story on internet.
- Police call owner to tell him to quit it. Owner says he has no control over internet. Police say ok, no big deal, they just wanted to say something so the could check the box on the complaint.
- HOA threatens to cancel contract with APS. APS now issuing warning tickets, and boot remove goes down to $90 as stated in contract. HOA considering other vendors when contract expires.
- APS general manager's picture becomes the next viral FAIL image to hit the internet. After 60+ pages, the thread is closed (not sure why). Hundreds of sites have linked to it.
