I'm in the very preliminary planning of my trip for this summer. I will be riding from Beaverton. Oregon and going to the BMOA rally in PA and continuing on to the Atlantic coast and returning to the Pacific coast. I plan on leaving some time after July 4 and need to be back in Oregon by August 7th. The return trip may be direct as the time frame between the rally end and the "must be back" date is a bit tight. I am looking for others that may want to ride along and I am looking for suggestions of routing and must do/see things along the way. I will turn 60 this year and hope to camp most the time if my physical condition allows! I'm not adverse to staying in a hotel/motel if the weather really sucks. Any and all suggestions will be graciously accepted!

looking forward to a lot of info!
Thanks

I would just grab some maps, get on the internet and pick out places, landmarks, National Parks, and things that interest me that might be doable on a trip of this size.........

Take a look at Hwy 2 up near the Canadian border.
Not as hot in July/Aug.
Not the wind of trhe plains.
A beautiful two lane ride much of the way.

I would consider US12. I dream of riding it end to end some day. Some of it would not be pretty, but from your coast to mid Montana, to die for.

+1 on Hwy 12. It's on my todo list. In any case, keep us informed. These types of trips really interest me.

When you say US12 exactly which parts are you talking about?
Thanks

US 12 also across eastern MT, ND, SD, MN and even WI is a nice drive - though long. You could drop to freeways if you run short of time. Of course US 12 across Lolo pass is a must! Stay off I-80, I-90 and I-94 :wave

Neat trip!
