Had some free time the other day so I ditched all of the stereo/CD/radio crap on the bike. I'm not a big fan of listening to a blaring radio while riding. In place of the radio controller I fabbed up a simple plate for my GPS mount. I use this GPS on my GS too so I needed something that was easily moveable from bike to bike.
By "blaring radio" I assume you meant listening to the LT's stock audio system through its speakers? Have you considered piping the audio into your helmet, or are you just not a fan of old-school AM/FM/CD audio altogether? Just curious why you went that route.
I rarely listen to music while riding. Just enjoy the sounds, smells and feel of everything else around me, so this makes a lot of sense to me.
Would you be able to reinstall the original radio console back now?
I pipe music from my iphone or ipod into my helmet. I never used the stock audio system. The CD changer took up too much room in the saddlebag and the extra room in the tank cubby is nice. The extra storage and weight loss was worth it. Everything can be reinstalled very easily.
