Job Description: The IMS Director of Product Development will be responsible for leading the product development teams delivering customer-facing electronic payment solutions for IMS, one of Intuit’s fastest-growing business units.

Since Intuit acquired IMS in 2003, the IMS team has been consistently growing the business, expanding from 95 employees to a staff of 935 in several sites.

Key Responsibilities

 Deliver existing and new electronic payment solutions by leading our internal development teams and working with our external software and hardware partners.

 Partner with business leaders to define and deliver new electronic payment solutions.

 Directly and successfully grow, lead, and develop a talented team of high-performing professionals in a high velocity environment. Mentor and coach these groups of engineers and rely on their technical expertise in reaching decisions.

 Lead the development of innovative software engineering solutions within mobile, web and desktop environments while directing the engineering efforts for a fast growing and changing business.

 Be a key participant in the electronic payments business strategy and priorities - be a valued member of the business leadership team.

 Be a strong partner with other key functions in the business - product management, marketing, sales and service delivery.


The successful candidate will be a leader with a demonstrated track record of developing and implementing best practices and delivering software solutions in a business to consumer and/or business to business product/service environment. He/she will have demonstrated a track record of success in achieving high-impact business results.

 Demonstrates a strong understanding of customer needs and establishes operational standards of commensurate offerings that "delight" our software and service users and exceed customer satisfaction by translating marketing requirements into detailed design and development plans.

 Has a high level of energy as well as strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Proven ability to gain trust, negotiate business objectives, and work directly with a broad group of senior executives. Demonstrates the ability to manage and quickly gain respect among subject matter experts within the company.

 Possesses complex project management skills and the ability to effectively manage high-performing teams by being a charismatic motivator and thought leader in the engineering organization.

 Bottom-line oriented, budget-conscious, metric/measurement driven, naturally straddling the sweet-spot of being strategic and "hands-on."

 Has a passion for and successful experience in driving product innovation in previous senior leadership positions.

 Demonstrated experience as a true self-starter that can quickly and independently assess business requirements and become a trusted and integral part of a leadership team.

 Strong orientation/experience to the demands of real-time transaction processing – possess operating values consistent with the requirements of an online-real time environment.

 Lead diverse development teams across several different geographical environments.

 Lead projects with complex deliverable sets coming from multiple partners.

 Lead projects with both desktop and web components with multi-tier architectures and high availability.

 Energize the organization to maintain continuous improvement programs and explore creative ideas on significantly improving performance.

 Mentor high-potential leaders to assume greater future responsibilities.


 BS with advanced degree preferred (e.g. MS, PhD. in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical engineering).

 Significant experience in software development, with working knowledge of PC/desktop, client/server, Internet/Java database and development tools.

 Demonstrated strength managing and developing diverse engineering organizations. Prefer an individual with experience and proven ability to manage an organization of 50+ with ability to scale.

 Superior organizational and planning skills, excellent written/verbal presentation and listening skills, and the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non-technical.

The Director Product Engineering in this role will be compensated with an attractive base, bonus, equity and benefits package.
