Parked up from the previous use and had to get something out of the RH pannier which was close to some equipment racking, so left it open intending to close it later. I forgot all about it and drove out like that, catching the extended lock lever in the racking. That pulled it all the way back onto the paintwork, taking a lump out of that and jamming. I managed to bend it back enough to relock, but now I have to mend it!

Is it an easy enough job to dismantle that mechanism and is there an exploded diagram somewhere to help? Hopefully I will not need the whole mechanism, but if I do, where do I find one?

I also lost the grommet a few days ago that the RH front fairing stud pops into, down by the footpeg. Where could I find one of those please?

Sorry to hear that, I have come close a few times. BMW does not have a break down for that mechanism so you may have to find one at a breakers yard. Here is the only break down I could find.

The grommet is 46 63 2 346 142 RUBBER GROMMET from BMW I have tried a round one and it does not work well. The BMW one is an oval shape.
