Hi all.
This is my first post on the LT forum.
I live in Tel Aviv, Israel.
30 yrs old, live with my girlfriend (+3 adorable dogs), a K1200LT(2000) and a K1200R(2006)

I used to own a 2007 R1200RT (sand beige) - but as soon as i (& more importantly, the S/O  ) sat on the LT - we knew what had to be done.
I was an active member of the RT forum (same username)and found the members to be informative, friendly and inviting.

I understand that BM are releasing a new LT within a short period of time, so i opted to buy a used LT and wait. To be honest, i did not expect the bike to be THIS good - and now i even have my doubts about upgrading.

This is my first used bike, so needless to say i had to make a few changes sine i bought it; Ohlins suspension, new clutch, Cee baileys screen, LED illuminated side lights, HID lights and finally a navigaton/GPS system.

I spent weeks looking for a proper GPS setup (going through every thread on this site!) and finally decided that none of the "out-of-the-box" systems would work. I wanted a setup that would be waterproof, theftproof and easy to use. The whole system is operated by a tiny remote control and the infra-red eye was placed inside the light (located directly above the speedo). The screen is a cannibalised 4" toshiba LCD ,placed behind perspex and waterproof coating.
The plastic housing was built specifically for my height, so i can see all the buttons/lights on the dashboard when seated.

So, ladies and gentleman, i am proud to show-off the finished product:

May i also take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy New Year.

Ellie

Great first post, Ellie - welcome to the LT forums. Super job on adding the custom navigation unit and system to your ride. And a few other little 'personality' add-ons - such as the chrome reservoir covers on the handlebars; the light control switches on the right handlebar; the custom grips; and the extra power socket locations. All nice touches.

Ride safe; have a prosperous and healthy 2008.

Very nice

First of all welcome to the forum.

I have to tell you that I especially like the look of the GPS unit. Very nice result. I'm impressed with how integrated it appears. Pretty cool.

תודה על המחמאה. עבדנו הרבה שעות בשביל להגיע לזה, אבל היה שווה

There are quite a few LT's over here now. Insurance is a right pain in the a#@^, but at then end of the day its all worth it. My K1200R costs 3x as much as the LT to insure - so i'm kind of desensitized to the whole issue

You are right - back in the day (i was still in diapers... :D ) , you could have gone all the way to the Sonesta hotel in Taba (and back) without a sweat.
These days we usually ride about 180km to the North, then go to Eilat for dinner, sleep in a small motel (after waaay too much alcohol...) and return home before work.

My S/O has already complained about the lack of space for her SHOES, so the bike is back in the shop having the changer removed and an ipod installed in its place.
! פעם הבא אני אשלח אותה לאילת עם מטוס של ארקיע יחד עם כל הנעליים

All the best,

Ellie
