A few months back my front mudguard section cracked along the line where the painted front part meets the black part. As I solution I took it to a body shop known for fixing broken plastic and GRP bumpers. They reinforced the underside with fibreglass and so far so good!
Before doing this I checked with some parts suppliers and they told me a new part would be almost US$300, and ALL their used parts were cracked too. This simple repair cost me almost US$30, a mere tenth of a new part and no need to have it repainted.

Any auto parts store will have a fiber glass repair kit ,Fixed mine for about $6.99

Down here, you can't buy DIY fibreglass kits. So if I were to buy in the necessary materials separately I'd probably end up spending more than I did.
