Am just wondering what is the correct size for the rear tyre on a 2005 RT?
It is listed as either 180/60/17 or 180/55/17 on different websites.
Not sure why they dont all have the same size listed.
Am going to replace mine soon with Michelin PR3s, so just want to make sure first.
Also, do I need to get the correct rating, not even sure if PR3s come in different ratings?

180 / 55 / 17 on my '05 RT

I think best to go for the heavier ratings if available as they are deigned for touring bikes - especially if you ride 2up / luggage. BT-023 is available as GT rating for tourers and I think the PR3 are available in what they call 'B rating' but I'm not sure. Check with your tyre supplier.

Never seen any BMW literature listing a 180 60 17. the 55 series is it.

Correct size is in owners manual.

Rely on information from BMW, not retailers.

The PR3s come in a standard rating and a "B" rating. The extra rating seems to increase the price by $30 or a little less. Before ATGATT gear, I weigh 225#, and then I carry another fifty pounds of stuff along while on tour. I figured the "B" rating was worth it. Others seem to say the sidewall is stiffer, and that if either detracts from cornering or enhances it. I dunno. Seems just fine to me.
