A whole bunch of you Senior members seem to do ALL of your own scheduled maintenance. What about the part where computer analysis is required? Do you take your bike to a dealer or special mechanic for that part? I know that Autozone and other auto parts stores can do a computer analysis readout of the maintenance codes that have come up over time on cars. And they do that for free. Do you need a different, special computer to read the codes off of a BMW motorcycle, such as an LT? I hope this isn't an old, recurring question. Thanks for your time. Greg.

My philosophy is that all of the electronic sensors and modules are connected to mechanical things. What goes wrong tends in large part to be mechanical related. Unless it is throwing a code I cant figure out, I stay out of the dealer service dept. Nothing wrong with a dealer checkup every now and then but I will avoid the wallet drain whenever possible.

Actually the GS-911 will handle hundereds of LT's as it only stores the VINs for those bikes that you have to reset the service interval timers on. So it will only rest those on ten different bikes. I have had mine on at least 20 LTs so far. I run a scan about every second 12K and I have never had a stored fault code. If it aint broke don't fix it.

How much does one of those GS-911's cost? Are any of you guys already addicted to this site? This would be my first internet addiction. Maybe I should fee more guilt.
