I'm thinking of using a cargo tray of some sort that would hook on my dauntless trailer hitch to give me a little extra storage space. I have a trailer but I really don't need that much space by myself and it really effects my mpg.

Any concerns or recommendations???

Clicky here. Just be concerned about weight bias.

To each his own, I've seen some of the cargo racks attached to the hitch on LT's and Goldwings
and they don't appeal to me at all,

I am surprised to hear you say the trailer affects your gas mileage,
I average 46 mpg two up and 42 two up with a full trailer,
riding style is probably a factor,

I prefer the back roads and avoid the interstate as much as possible,
but that doesn't mean I drive slow,
I usually exceed the limit by 8 or 9 mph
with the enforcement theory of 9 you're fine, 10 you're mine.

If you usually ride solo and don't need all of that cargo space
you might consider removing the top box,
I did that for a solo trip to Michigan,
it made the LT lighter sleeker and I still had all the space I needed and more.

Picture is of the Fallasburg park covered bridge,
you probably know where that is!

Thanks for the info, that is exactly what I want!! I guess I should have done a search here first.

Nice pics, I like the looks of the LT minus the top case!!

I don't recall if it was at this site or elsewhere, but I recently saw photos that showed building/installing brackets which would allow the top case to be moved forward in place of the rear seat. The original top case location then had a rack on it. Maybe someone else recalls seeing this item and could post here.
