03 LT with 75,000. I have been experiencing a random occuring hesitation on the bike, usually after start up and generally lasting for a few miles. This occurs from a standing start ,I usually have to end up nailing the throttle to "clear it out" which seems to unltimately take care of the problem. This could be coincedental, it may just take a few miles to sort itself out.

I did a search and found one by Member Alpac back in 2008-

"My 99 had a engine hesitation from time to time with engine under 2000RPM. Sometime it was barely noticeable and sometime it was a real pain in the but. The Engine hesitation was a little bit more frequent with hot weather but could also happen with colder weather. Some day the bike would run fine with temp over 85 and sometime it would not. 2 month ago I disconnected the air box temp sensor and all sign of hesitation disappeared. The bike rode like a charm. Then I brought the bike to BMW for the 24k service maintenance and they plugged the air sensor back. Did not notice it for a couple of say until the throttle hesitation at low RPM came back. I finally installed a switch so I can connect the air temp sensor on (winter) and off (summer). The air temp is off right now and it makes a world of a difference. I will see if I need to put it back on for cold weather. May not be your problem but that is an easy thing to check".

This mimics my problem, it has never been a continual problem but is frustrating when it happens. Like Alpac mine shows up during either hot or cold weather. Canister has been removed, brown wire has been cut and O2 sensor replaced last year. I do plan on replacing the fuel filter soon however the air sensor does make sense. Dealers never mentioned a code thrown with regard to this problem.

This problem generally does not show up when starting and leaving the garage (it's heated). Usually shows up when its been parked for a period of time outside in either hotter or cooler temperatures. This issue has existed since I've owned the bike (4 years). If I were forced to guess I'd say this has happened 60-80 times or so over those years, I ride daily so not a huge percentage but still perplexing.

Any thoughts or similar problem with cures appreciated!

I experienced this same condition at 61k and it turned out to be a corroded number two spark plug wire inside cap where it snaps onto the plug.. A new plug wire is about $60 dollars. Good luck. :)

Mine bucked for a while just before the fuel pump failed. If it continues to get worse, be careful where you turn it off at.

I just bought a 1999 1200LT.
I reside in Asia and its hot and humid over here.
When I bought it, it would not idle properly and would die off. Riding it with an open throttle was good.
Have had the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines replaced. Some cleaning of the throttle bodies was done by the workshop.
Now the bike idles nicely.
However, cold riding for about 3-5 miles is ok, but when the engine temperature gauge reaches about 1/2 mark, it bucks when I open the throttle and pull off. At cruising its ok.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what could be the problem here ?
Thanks
