OK, an odd one, at least for me. Even after turning the bike off (a '99 LT) the brake light will not turn off. I have to pull the fuse. Usually, a few hours later I can put the fuse back in and all is good. I've checked that the rear switch is physically moving, though I haven't ohmed it out yet. I'm not sure where to test the front brake switch. So, suggestions?

Ok, after posting found like problems. Will replace the relay this weekend.

That "Usually, a few hours later I can put the fuse back in and all is good" kinda throws me. Does it stay good then, until you've activated the brake once again? And then it stays lit?

Happened to ole Toad (a seasoned '99) last year. Turned out to be the brake light relay in the electronics box. A PITA to replace, butt doable if you have the shop manual, or Clymers, to go by. It's a ~$12 item, butt you gotta take the upper fairing off; the stingray off; the seat bracket off; the fuel tank off, and then you can open up the electronics box and pull the relay holder out - naturally, the brake light relay is in the very back of the box and I used a mirror on a steek to see it. A somewhat costly job at the dealer, due to the tupperware work and time involved just getting there and back again. HTH a leetle - good luck.

I have had the same problem with my '99 model sometimes. I usually fix this by activating the handlebar brake lever and then letting it "flick" forward out of my grip. Do this 3 or 4 times, with the key turned to accessories, and it goes off.

Mine was the same as Dick's. Flicking the brake switches had no impact. The fix was to replace the relay, a bit of a PITA.
