I read in a recent post that if you use a DOT 5 fluid it doesn't have to be changed again.

Could someone please explain the difference between a DOT4 and DOT5 oil change.

Not true. DOT 5 fluid still has to be changed, however it has a higher heat tolerance & presents no danger to paint. Other than that, it's not worth the effort. DOT 4 & DOT 5 are *not* compatible! Mix even a tiny amount of DOT 4 (the residue in the line) with the DOT 5 , & you'll get a jello like substance that'll clog your entire brake system. It's nearly impossible to flush *all* the DOT 4 out, so the effort just isn't worth it.

Joe is correct. Since you don't know which seals may
not tolerate dot5 don't risk it.

The other negative about dot 5 is, being silicone based it does
not absorb moisture as dot3/dot4 do. So the moisture will
settle in the lowest part of your braking/clutch system
